About
BIO / GRACE DINGES
Grace Dinges is a props designer and scenic artist currently attending Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. They are a Theatre major with a minor in Classics and a keen interest in sustainability and preservation of the environment. They have worked in and around the theatre since 2014.
When they made their acting debut in 2014 at the age of 9 as “Children’s Chorus Member” in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever at their local community theatre, they just needed something to do after school. They fell in love with the performing arts during that show and continued performing onstage throughout high school, where they became interested in design and the technical elements of the theatre.
Throughout their experience, they have acted in both straight plays and musicals, managed a prop shop, constructed sets, hung lights, programmed lighting cues, assistant stage managed, painted backdrops, and designed props and lights for theatre and dance. Despite their wide ranging experiences, working with props and scenic painting has become their favorite part of the theatrical process.
Outside of theatre, they are a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of the United States of America and an employee of the Knox College Office of Sustainability in the Knox College Bike Shop.
Grace has loved and cared for the outdoors for their whole life. They are very interested in making theatre more sustainable and using alternative materials to construct sets and props. Grace is also heavily invested in education and providing opportunities for younger artists to succeed through mentorship and student theatre.
